“Arabic At Your Hands Series” is one program in a collection of programs called “Arabic For All”. This series comprises a developed version of the book “Arabic At Your Hands”, which introduces a comprehensive curriculum for teaching Arabic for non-Arabic speakers, students and teachers. This curriculum is developed for educational entities, including schools, institutes and universities. It begins from the basic level and continues with the students until they master the Arabic language, which enables them to join university and continue their Arabic studies in various majors. The developed series is designed by the authors of the original series, who is an academic team specialized in teaching Arabic for non-Arabic speakers. Here is a brief introduction to the developed series:
Level 1: This first book in the Kallimni ‘Arabi series teaches Egyptian colloquial Arabic at the beginning level. Designed according to the ACTFL guidelines for teaching Arabic as a foreign language, each book of the Kallimni ‘Arabi series trains students in Egyptian dialect with particular emphasis on listening and speaking through using real-life situations and expressions. Audio CDs accompany the book and include recordings of the dialogues and exercises in each chapter.
Level 2: Kallimni Arabic is part of a planned series of multilevel Egyptian Colloquial Arabic course books for adults. It combines rich everyday cultural content, comprehensive grammar and real life fuctional language. It is designed according to the guideliness for teaching and learning arabic of the American Council for teaching foreign Languages (ACTFL).
Level 3: Aimed at the growing number of students studying Arabic worldwide, Kallimni ‘Arabi Aktar takes an innovative, functional approach to the study of Egyptian colloquial Arabic the spoken dialect most frequently studied and most widely understood in the Arab world. Picking up where the previous title in this series, Kallimni ‘Arabi, leaves off, this volume is designed for adult students at the high-intermediate/low-advanced levels of language proficiency. Written in accordance with the ACTFL guidelines for teaching Arabic as a foreign language, this highly structured course trains students in the crucial skills, with emphasis on listening and speaking. Each chapter includes a conversation unit that enables students to improve their communication skills and allows for progressive acquisition of vocabulary and grammar through interactive classroom tasks and everyday situations, from expressing personal likes and dislikes to initiating conversations and describing events and experiences. The accompanying audio CD has recordings of each chapter’s dialogues and exercises, made by native Egyptian speakers to enrich the student’s exposure to the spoken language in its natural context and speed.
